Flowers for a Tea occasion
By Grand Master Fuden-an Sojitsu
Flower: Plume tree with red blossoms (picked from within the Joushuan)
Vase: Copper alloy Momo-zoko ‘Cry of the Crane’ from the house of Tokugawa Owari
This flower was used at last year’s Tenjin Tea ceremony. As requested by the female guest of honor, a branch of a plum tree was used. This branch helps accentuate the presence felt by the vase and the plum, especially so since this vase is one of a kind. I feel it is a very graceful and dignified flower arrangement.
